Our story

A simple act of sharing, grown with community.

Bread Hub Victoria began with Brendan Murphy, his mum Zippy and his daughter Ava sharing 40 bread rolls with butter and Vegemite at Queen Victoria Market. That beginning became a volunteer-led effort to meet people with generosity and respect.

Bread Hub Incorporated was formally incorporated in Victoria on 25 September 2024.

Community milestones

Minutes from January 2025 record bread distribution from Bundoora, Summerhill and Brunswick, alongside fundraising for pool vouchers to help people experiencing disadvantage.

Consumer Affairs Victoria acknowledged receipt of the association’s 2024–25 annual statement in September 2025.
